One of the great things about the internet is the way it can pull people together who have never met to march forward with a common goal. As the parent of a special needs child, I've seen times where parents of autistic children came together to help others with things from clothing, funds for medication or just watching kids so the parents could have a night off. There's still a lot of work to be done there but I've seen how coming together can bring results.

A new website launched today called Survival Mode Parent. It's a website run by a woman named Mandy who had a friend that faced a very difficult situation with their newborn child. The first eight months of the child's life was spent in the hospital and as you can imagine it just shredded the daily life of their family.
Think of all the things your family faces on a weekly basis. There's groceries, laundry, cleaning, the lawn...all kinds of things that need to be done which get pushed aside when a child is in trouble. You can't blame a parent for not doing the laundry when their child is hooked up to machines and tubes fighting to live. However, just because this parent's focused where they need to be focused those other things still need to be done.
That's where Survival Mode Parent is trying to help. The website is aimed to bring people together in communities across the United States to help parents facing these kinds of horrific trials. It's an opportunity for Christians to provide the simplest of service to others and in that live out the love of Christ we so often proclaim. You may not be giving a cup of cold water in Jesus' name but a cup of Tide cold water laundry detergent...but the end result is the same. You show that person facing one of the most difficult times of their life that someone out there cares about them.
Will it cost you? Sure. Time. Some money most likely. It will cost you some pain because your heart will break for these people in need. It's also something that is completely worth it. Click the logo in this posting to visit their site for more information.
